Striker Adebola will remain patient at Nottingham Forest
Published:Nottingham Forest striker Dele Adebola is determined to fight his way into boss Billy Davies’ plans – despite only making one start this season.
The 35-year-old was signed from Bristol City last year but has endured a less than prolific spell since joining Forest, scoring just four goals in over 40 appearances.
However, many of those appearances have come from the subs bench. The Nigerian-born forward has found his starting chances limited, with Davies preferring him to act as back-up for first choice strikers Dexter Blackstock and Robert Earnshaw.
Speaking to the BBC, Adebola said: “It is par for the course when you come to a big club like Nottingham Forest – there are lots of good strikers.
“You have to wait for a chance and we are all pulling in the same direction.”
Forest haven’t yet reached the heights of last term in which they were rewarded for a brilliant season with a play-off berth – they are currently tenth in the league after recording just two wins in their opening ten games.
Their quest to climb the table doesn’t look like getting much of a boost this weekend either. They travel to table-toppers and favourites for promotion Cardiff City, who are fresh off the back of a 4-2 drubbing of Scunthorpe United.
Forest are 7/2 outsiders in the Championship betting for the clash and, with Cardiff striker Jay Bothroyd being given an England call-up, it’s easy to see why. The Bluebirds have been rampant this season and will be expected to win this game at 4/5.
