Self-belief evident and Bees can climb table at expense of Gills

Published:

Barnet’s 4-1 win over Northampton last Saturday may have installed a huge amount of self-belief within the team that was rooted to the bottom of League Two, but the last time Barnet managed back to back victories was in October 2009.

However in six games between Barnet and Gillingham at Barnet’s Underhill Stadium, the north London club have won four times and lost just once, suggesting Mark Stimson’s side can record the consecutive victory – they are 6/4 to beat Gillingham.

Gillingham also managed a win on Saturday ending their run of six games without a win and are 17/10 to beat Barnet.

But Barnet can overtake the Gills in the table with a win and can do so by a two-goal margin – the Bees are 8/1 to beat Gillingham 2-0.

Rotherham United vs Northampton Town

Northampton had recorded seven points from nine in their three games prior to the Barnet defeat, but the Cobblers travel to fourth-placed Rotherham knowing a loss could leave them in the bottom two.

Rotherham have been inconsistent of late, with just one home win in seven games, and should Northampton repeat the kind of performance that saw them draw 0-0 with Port Vale, the 7/2 for Northampton to beat Rotherham looks tempting.

But Rotherham have scored 19 goals in nine home games and Northampton will need top-scorer Leon McKenzie to have his shooting boots on – McKenzie to score first and Northampton to draw 2-2 is priced at 80/1.

Shrewsbury Town vs Hereford United

Hereford sit bottom of League Two after Barnet’s win and Jamie Pitman’s side travel to Shrewsbury in search of three points.

But Shrewsbury are still unbeaten at home after drawing with Southend on Saturday and the Shrews are 4/6 to beat Hereford.

A £10 treble on Barnet, Northampton and Shrewsbury to win would return £187.50. See the full League Two football betting odds here.
