Roddick faces Russian who is unknown quantity to the American

| 04.11.2010

Andy Roddick faces up to Russian Andrey Golubev in Basle on Thursday evening, and the Russian is a big price at 9/4 to win.

The out-of-sorts Andy Roddick beat fellow American Sam Querrey in straight sets on Wednesday, but Roddick needed to win seven games in both sets to do so and there is nothing to suggest the American is finding his form.

Whereas Golubev made the final on the hard courts of Malaysia at the start of October, and despite suffering some poor results since, the Russian has the ability to upset Roddick who is odds on 1/3 to beat the American.

With the two having never met before, recent form is the only thing to go on and Roddick has suffered defeats to lower ranked players in his last four tournaments.

David Nalbandian vs Marian Cilic

Nalbandian holds a 3-0 head-to-head record over Cilic which would explain why the Argentine is priced at 2/5 to beat the Frenchman.

Nalbandian beat Cilic in straight sets in the semi-finals of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic earlier in Washington and is 11/10 to do the same on Thursday.

Cilic is 7/4 to beat Nalbandian but lost to Andreas Haider-Maurer, ranked 115 in the world, last week and is yet to win more than two matches in a tournament since meeting Nalbandian in August.

Novak Djokovic vs Jarkko Nieminen

Despite Djokovic being the 1/8 overwhelming favourite to beat Nieminen, the Fin had the better of the Serb when they last met in Sydney in 2009.

Nieminen has been in strong form on the hard courts, reaching two quarter-finals, a semi-final and a final in his last four tournaments and seems a big price at 9/2.

However Djokovic has only lost to Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in his last three tournaments and is 7/2 to win the match by two sets to one.

Djokovic is 5/2 to win the Swiss Indoors. See the full Davidoff Swiss Indoors betting odds here.
