Rampant Anderson shows credentials at Grand Slam of Darts
Published:Gary Anderson is convinced he has what it takes to win the Daily Mirror Grand Slam of Darts.
The Scotsman was brilliant in his demolition of Colin Osborne last night – not losing one leg against his own throw – to come through with a convincing 10-3 victory.
Anderson averaged a very tidy 98.54 with three darts and will now face Wayne Jones tomorrow, following the Wolverhampton man’s 10-6 victory over Robert Thornton.
He may be in good form, but Anderson knows he will have his work cut out against the home favourite.
He said: “My finishing was great and I’m delighted to be through. It will be different against Wayne Jones on Saturday because he’s in great form.
“He’s a local lad and will have plenty of support but I’m confident and I’ll give it a good go.”
The pair have already met in the competition this year, with Anderson coming out on top 5-2 in their Group B clash last Sunday.
That win has taken the ‘The Flying Scotsman’ ahead of Jones in their head-to-head meetings, with Anderson now leading 5-4 after nine games.
Although it promises to be an extremely tight encounter, Anderson should come out on top after being installed as third favourite for the tournament at 7/1.
Jones will not roll over though and his odds for the championship have now come in to 33/1 following his impressive win against Thornton – everything’s set for a cracker.
