QPR take the advantage after Swansea win South Wales skirmish
Queens Park Rangers find themselves at the top of the Championship table and winners betting market after the weekend’s Championship fixtures.
Swansea took the spoils and the bragging rights in the South Wales derby after a unusually lacklustre Cardiff City display allowed their local rivals to close the gap on the Championship’s top two teams to just three points.
Had Cardiff won, Dave Jones’ side would have gone nine points clear of Swansea, but Swansea’s win brings them within three points of Cardiff and QPR and five points clear of fourth place.
The Swans are now 8/1 to win the Championship, but the Championship winner betting market suggests Cardiff and QPR will be the two teams that will challenge for the title come May.
Cardiff are 7/4 to win the league while QPR are 13/8 to end the season as the Championship winners.
After the top three in the Championship betting market come Burnley, but their odds of 14/1 to win the Championship suggest only Swansea are in a position to catch the top two.
At the bottom of the Championship Tony Mowbray registered his first win as MIddlesbrough manager after their 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.
The defeat condemns Palace to the bottom of the table as Mowbray’s side go three points clear of their opponents, and level on points with Bristol City, Preston North End and Hull in the race to escape the relegation zone.
Mowbray will now be targeting a win when his side head to Scunthorpe on Wednesday night and Middlesbrough are 7/5 to beat Scunthorpe.
All of the Championship teams are in action across Tuesday and Wednesday night this week, and with the table being so tight, the Championship table could make for much different reading come Thursday morning.
After their strong start, Ipswich are now 20/1 to win the Championship. See the full Championship football betting odds here.
