Adebayor to Juventus – Man City title chances unaffected

He’s not the most popular character at Eastlands and Emmanuel Adebayor won’t have endeared himself any further by claiming he is on his way to Juventus.

City are currently at 9/1 in the Premier League market to win the league, but the departure of Adebayor shouldn’t make any difference to their chances of claiming a first title.

There have been rumours circulating for some time that the Togo player has fallen out with City boss Roberto Mancini, but now Adebayor has come out and spoken directly about the problems and his intentions.

Speaking to French magazine Sport/Foot, he said: “I don’t know what I did wrong to Roberto Mancini, but he never lets me play.

“I’m going to change air during the transfer window in January and I can tell you that City have already reached an agreement with Juventus for a loan. I therefore expect to be able to leave in December.”

Adebayor hasn’t been given many chances in the City starting XI this season, but was excellent against Lech Poznan in the Europa League, bagging a hat-trick while Carlos Tevez was rested.

However, despite his occasional on-field brilliance, Adebayor’s time in England has been blighted by his allegedly poor attitude off the grass.

He left Arsenal under a cloud and since then has been a constant source of aggravation for Mancini since he took over at the Eastlands – not least because of his stamp on Robin van Persie and his infamous celebration in front of Gunners fans after scoring against them.

City may be losing excellent back-up to their first choice strikers, but they are also losing a disruptive influence in a dressing room that hardly sounds harmonious at the best of times.
