Larrieu optimistic of becoming number one again at Plymouth
Published:Romain Larrieu is hoping to do enough in the coming weeks to prove to Plymouth boss Peter Reid that he should be his number one choice between the sticks for the remainder of the season.
Larrieu began the season in the starting line-up but some disappointing performances resulting in him losing his place in goal to David Button.
However, with Button picking up an injury, the Frenchman has regained his starting spot and is hopeful that he can play a starring role in helping Plymouth begin to climb up the League One standings.
He told the Herald Express: “I played a few games earlier in the season when I didn’t play to my full level.
“I didn’t really enjoy it and didn’t feel like I had made the most of the opportunity. I think I can play better than that.”
Plymouth have been a bit hit and miss this season, but a run of a few victories could easily ensure they are involved in any promotion scrap.
Their current position of 15th has left them 66/1 to win League One, but they are only five points shy of the play-off picture.
Conceding goals has been one problem that boss Reid has had to contend with as Plymouth have let in 25 times in their opening 15 League One games.
Meanwhile, their disciplinary troubles have also had a bearing on some of their results as seven red cards have already been shown to Plymouth players this season in all competitions.
Plymouth may also fancy their chances of making moves up the League One table as two of their next three league outings are against teams below them in the standings.
They travel to Plymouth and are at home to Dagenham and Redbridge, while another home clash with fellow mid-table outfit Brentford takes place in between.
