Konnie tips One Direction to succeed and take X Factor title

Xtra Factor presenter Konnie Huq feels that One Direction are the most likely winners of this year’s X Factor.

The manufactured boyband were put together by Simon Cowell after the bootcamp stage of the show and are now his only remaining act left in the competition following the eliminations of Belle Amie, Diva Fever and FYD.

This will enable Simon to put all of his time into the group to ensure they have songs that are both suitable for their voices and will attract public votes.

However, Konnie believes that it is the positive impression that One Direction have on the ladies that will secure them enough votes to win the show as it enters its latter stages.

She said: “I just think One Direction will do really well. Everywhere I go girls come up to me – even when they’re not young girls but grown women – and say ‘Oh my gosh, One Direction are amazing’.

“When I’m out and about everyone is ‘One Direction this, One Direction that. I like Harry, I like Zain, I like Louis’. There are five of them so if you think about it there’s one for everyone.”

One Direction are 4/1 to win the X Factor and will currently be deliberating which song to sing from Elton John’s catalogue as that is the theme for the next show.

Obvious songs in contention are ‘Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting’ and ‘Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word’, while it would be ironic if one of the contestants did not sing ‘I’m Still Standing’.

Even if the group does not win the X Factor, betting odds are still available on how well the band will perform in the charts next year.

Among the specials on offer are 2/5 that One Direction have a number one album in 2011 and 4/6 that they enjoy two or more number one singles.

It is 3/1 that One Direction have no number one singles in 2011. See the full X Factor specials betting odds markets.
