Injuries put Milan in strong position to beat rivals Inter

Published:

AC Milan could not have hoped for a better time to face their chief rivals as they look to assert themselves at the head of the Serie A standings.

Massimiliano Allegri’s side may have lost their last three games against Inter, but there are many reasons they may be optimistic of putting an end to this sequence.

Inter have not won in three games and have a mass of injury problems to contend with.

The only bright news is that Wesley Sneijder and Dejan Stankovic are likely to return, but important players including Maicon, Walter Samuel and Esteban Cambiasso will all miss out.

A win for Inter would move them level on points with Milan and they are 6/4 to secure victory.

Milan have some injury troubles of their own in attack as Alexandre Pato and Filippo Inzaghi are both on the injured list, meaning that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be joined in attack by Brazilian duo Ronaldinho and Robinho.

It is 15/8 that Milan beat Inter and Ibrahimovic could be a good bet to score first against his former club at 6/1.

Diego Milito scored in both Inter wins over Milan last season and can be backed at 11/2 to strike first.

Elsewhere in Serie A, Lazio attempt to get their season back on track with a home win over Napoli.

Two straight defeats has seen Lazio drop off the top of the Serie A table, but they are 11/10 to beat Napoli, who are one of the form teams in the Italian top flight at present.

Napoli are on a three-game winning streak and this has taken them to within a point of Lazio in the standings.

Both meetings between the pair last season ended all square and it is 23/10 for another draw, while a Napoli win is priced at 5/2. See the full Lazio vs Napoli match betting odds market.
