Home wins a common occurrence in Espanyol clashes with Malaga

Published:

With most of the recent talk about Malaga being about the potential appointment of Manuel Pellegrini as their next boss, a focus is to return to on-the-field matters as they prepare to travel to Espanyol.

Malaga currently sit third from bottom in La Liga and may find it tough to make any moves up the standings as Espanyol have been exemplary at home.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team have won all four La Liga games at the Estadi Cornella-El Prat so far and are 4/5 to keep up this 100 per cent streak against Malaga.

The visitors may gain confidence from the fact that their league form has been much better on their travels than at home, where they have lost all five games.

However, seven of the last eight meetings between Espanyol and Malaga have been won by the home team and Malaga have failed to win in their last six games in all competitions.

Those considering looking at the correct score betting market may want to take the 7/1 on a 2-1 Espanyol win as this was the outcome in the home team’s favour in both clashes last season.

The other televised La Liga game pits two of the teams in mid table against each other as Racing Santander head to Real Sociedad.

Santander have not proved the best travellers as they have lost three of their four away games and have managed just two goals.

It is 11/5 that Racing collect their first away victory at Sociedad, but last season’s Segunda Division champions have been solid at home.

They have triumphed in three of their four home games, with Real Madrid the only team to dent their record.

Sociedad are 1/1 to beat Racing and much will depend on whether Antoine Griezmann and Joseba Llorente continue the scoring streak which has seen them net in both of the club’s last two La Liga games. See the full Real Sociedad vs Racing Santander match betting odds market.
