Home Barcelona win not certain against high-flying Villarreal

Published:

Villarreal tend to display their best form when playing at home, but if their recent record away to Barcelona is anything to go by then there is a strong chance they can gain a result at the Nou Camp this season.

The likes of Hercules and Mallorca have already avoided defeat at the Nou Camp in La Liga and Barcelona will definitely need to make their home more of a fortress if they are to keep tabs on Real Madrid at the head of the standings.

Villarreal are the next visitors and have avoided defeat on their last three trips to the Nou Camp, winning on one of these occasions.

Yet despite this and the fact that they sit third in the La Liga standings, Villarreal are 11/1 to beat Barcelona.

The home side have won their last four league games and are 2/9 to beat Villarreal, with Lionel Messi liable to have a major say on the end result.

Messi has eight goals in as many league games and is 5/2 to open the scoring against Villarreal.

The other televised Saturday La Liga game witnesses Atletico Madrid host Osasuna, with the visitors still looking for an away league win this season.

It is 9/2 that this arrives against Atletico, although they have lost on three of their last four visits to the Vicente Calderon.

However, Atletico have won just one of the last five meetings between the pair, which has left them at 8/13 to beat Osasuna this season.

Atletico will be hopeful that both Sergio Aguero and Diego Forlan rediscover their scoring touch in the fixture and are 4/1 and 7/2 respectively to be the first scorer against Osasuna.

Barcelona are 5/4 to beat Villarreal without conceding a goal. See the complete Barcelona vs Villarreal match betting odds market.
