England to open against Spain or Japan at World Cup of Darts

The draw for the first round of the Cash Converters World Cup of Darts has been made, with England facing a second round clash against the winner of Spain’s game against Japan.

England are represented by the formidable pairing of Phil Taylor and James Wade – the top two ranked players in the world – and favourites for the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship.

They are huge favourites to win the title for England at 1/3, with both players in brilliant form heading into a crucial month for the pair.

Taylor – who is 8/15 to win his 16th world title – got back to winning ways with a win in the Players Championship in Derby on Saturday. It was his first win since his European Championship triumph in August and is an ominous sign for the rest of the field.

Wade has also enjoyed a brilliant couple of months. He won the World Grand Prix in Dublin last month and was runner-up in the Daily Mirror Grand Slam of Darts a fortnight ago.

With the two best players in the world finding form at the right time, it’s hard to look beyond a win for England in the World Cup of Darts.

However, they will face some stiff competition from 11/2 second favourites Holland. The Dutch are represented by Raymond van Barneveld and Co Stompe and begin their campaign against the winner of Germany’s tie with the Czech Republic.

A £10 bet on James Wade to win the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship pays out £80. New customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
