Cher needs to get back rapping to improve X Factor winning chances

Song choices are going to be especially important for Cher Lloyd in the coming weeks if she is to get her X Factor dream back on track.

Cher has fallen to 14/1 to win the X Factor after surviving the sing-off against Paije Richardson to avoid being the ninth act eliminated from the programme.

With just seven acts left, the pressure continues to build and the stage has been reached when many of the leading fancies are now being voted into the bottom two.

Cher may have survived this time, but unless she goes back to her original style, there is every chance she may not be so lucky next week.

After impressing the judges and voting audience alike with her initial audition of ‘Turn My Swag ‘On’, Cher has drifted away from her singing and rapping style and struggled to make her performances unique.

Cher was the 3/1 favourite to win the X Factor after the initial auditions, but has slowly seen her popularity fade with the viewing public.

Mentor Cheryl Cole could take part of the blame for some poor song choices and with all acts singing two songs on the next show, Cher will have the perfect opportunity to return to past glories.

However, she must ensure that her display is not too similar to the original that she takes on, as her recent rendition of ‘New York’ by Jay Z was described as being a copycat version.

Meanwhile, Cheryl’s recent negative press and the fact that she was described as being “lazy” with her acts will not be doing Cher any favours.

Cheryl is the only mentor with three acts still in the competition and there is a possibility that Katie Waissel may have grown in popularity after avoiding being in the bottom two.

Katie is still 33/1 to win the X Factor, while Cheryl’s other act Rebecca Ferguson can be backed at 3/1. See the full X Factor winners betting odds market.
