Bournemouth hoping to keep McQuoid for the long haul

Clubs on the lookout for a potent goalscorer have been told that they will have little joy if they try to poach Josh McQuoid off Bournemouth.

McQuoid’s hot scoring streak is one of the reasons that Bournemouth sit in the dizzy heights of third in the League One standings as he has managed eight goals in the opening 16 games of the campaign.

This has not only seen Bournemouth supported into 33/1 to win League One, but has also seen McQuoid shorten in the division’s top scorer football betting market.

The 20-year-old is 14/1 to be the top scorer in League One and is currently just two behind Plymouth’s Bradley Wright-Phillips.

McQuoid’s scoring exploits may lead to some interest for his services in the January transfer window, but Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell has stated the club will do all it can to retain his services.

Mitchell told the Bournemouth Echo: “I think he’s been tremendous all season. He’s a big asset to the club and we want to keep him here.

“Clubs would be daft if they didn’t look at him but, at this moment in time, we’re hoping to retain his services for quite a long time.”

McQuoid has scored back-to-back hat-tricks for Bournemouth, following up on his treble in the FA Cup victory over Tranmere with another in the league triumph over Walsall.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe will be hoping that McQuoid continues his rich vein of form in the team’s next outing away at Leyton Orient.

However, Orient have won their last two home games against Bournemouth and are 7/5 in the League One football betting odds to take the three points.

Bournemouth are 9/5 to make it two straight league victories, with the draw priced at 12/5.

Wright-Phillips is 8/1 to be League One’s top scorer this season, with Southampton’s Rickie Lambert heading the market at 7/2. See the full League One top scorer betting odds market.
