Blackpool continue to impress after home draw with Everton
Blackpool started the season at 1/4 to be relegated but their efforts thus far in the Premier League has seen that cut to 1/2.
But you could argue that Blackpool deserve to be longer after once again defying the odds to get a result against Everton.
Everton were the 4/5 favourites to win at Bloomfield Road on Saturday, but Ian Holloway’s side twice took the lead in a game that finished 2-2, leaving Everton and Blackpool sharing the mid-table spots in the Premier League on 14 points.
And had it not been for some over-zealous refereeing at the death, Blackpool could have come away with all three points had Marlon Harewood’s goal been allowed to stand.
Blackpool have won four, drawn two and lost five of their 11 Premier League games but face tough ties away to Aston Villa and West Ham in their next two games, games which could be crucial in defining their season.
Villa have struggled to maintain any form in the league this season but are unbeaten at Villa Park and are the 2/5 favourites to beat Blackpool on Wednesday.
But it’s the game with West Ham, who drew 2-2 at St Andrews on Saturday that could define Blackpool’s season.
West Ham are still bottom of the league but the draw with Birmingham saw their relegation odds drift out to 1/1 while Wigan and Wolverhampton Wanderers saw their relegation odds cut.
But Avram Grant’s underperforming side know they must win against Blackpool to show that they are not destined for a relegation fight come May.
A loss for Blackpool would confirm why they remain 1/2 to be relegated, but if Holloway’s side can pick-up a couple of points from their next two games, Blackpool should be strongly considered for Premier League survival.
After their strong start, West Brom are 5/1 to be relegated. See the full Barclays Premier League football betting odds here.
