Blackburn vs Wigan – Away win looking massively unlikely

Published:

Blackburn may have fallen into the relegation zone after losing three of their last four Premier League games, but history suggests that they should have little trouble disposing of Wigan.

Match Odds

Blackburn have every incentive to bring to an end their winless streak against Wigan as victory will see them hop above their opposition and out of the relegation places.

A lack of victories is the obvious reason as to why Blackburn are third from bottom in the Premier League standings and they have only taken maximum points in one of their last nine games.

However, they have an impressive record at home to Wigan as it is a fixture they have won six times in the past in seven attempts.

Blackburn are 5/6 to beat Wigan and hand Roberto Martinez’ team just a second defeat in eight league and cup games.

Wigan are 7/2 to claim a first ever away win over Blackburn and their form on their travels has been reasonable with just one defeat in their four games.

Half-Time/Full-Time

It has been Blackburn’s second-half performances that have largely cost them points this season.

Sam Allardyce’s team would sit third in the standings rather than third from bottom if matches ended at half-time, so there is a strong chance they may be ahead against Wigan at the interval.

Wigan have only managed seven league goals all season, so if Blackburn did go and take the lead it would be unlikely that they would completely turn things around and secure the three points.

Therefore, logical bets may be that Blackburn are leading at both half-time and full-time, which can be backed at 15/8, or opting for the 14/1 that Blackburn are ahead at the break but the game finishes as a draw.

Blackburn have scored nine goals in their last four home games with Wigan. See the full Blackburn vs Wigan match betting odds market.
