Bet on Spurs vs Bremen – Form and history suggest home win

| 24.11.2010

A fourth successive home victory for Tottenham in the Champions League will ensure that they continue their dream competition and reach the knockout stages of the tournament.

Tottenham are 1/2 to beat Werder Bremen and cement their place at the head of Group A with just one game remaining, which for Harry Redknapp is a trip to Holland to face FC Twente.

While Spurs have been strong at White Hart Lane in the Champions League this season, they also hold a strong historical home record against German opposition, where they have won five out of six and never lost.

Tottenham’s cause is also enhanced further by Bremen’s recent poor domestic form, where they have conceded ten goals in their last two away outings.

Furthermore, they are still to win away in the Champions League this season and have only brought 12 senior players to England because of a mix of injury and suspension.

Bremen have nothing to lose and have to win to stand any chances of reaching the last 16 of the competition this season.

They are 5/1 to upset the form book and beat Spurs.

Meanwhile, reigning champions Inter can also seal their progress into the knockout stages with a victory in the other Group A clash where they entertain FC Twente.

Inter’s disastrous domestic form has led to speculation that Rafa Benitez could be close to losing his job and a positive result against Twente will buy him some added time.

The good news for Benitez is that he has never lost a Champions League game against Dutch opposition, while Inter have won their last three meetings with Dutch teams.

Inter’s betting odds are 8/15 to beat Twente and make it seven Champions League home victories on the bounce.

Twente are 5/1 to beat Inter, which would not only stretch the Italian side’s winless streak to six games, but also see them leapfrog their position into the qualification places for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

New customers looking to reap the rewards of a free £10 bet may wish to back the scorecast of Tottenham to win 4-1 and Jermain Defoe to score first, which will make them £600. Click here to sign up.
