Allardyce concerned about lack of Premier League points at Blackburn

Sam Allardyce has admitted that he would put three points over good performances as Blackburn struggle towards the foot of the Premier League table.

Blackburn have lost three of their last four games despite playing relatively well and this has seen them slip into the bottom three in the top flight.

This has resulted in Blackburn falling to 6/1 to be relegated this season, but Allardyce is convinced that if his team can reproduce the level of performance that they did when losing to Chelsea recently on a more consistent basis, they will have nothing to worry about.

He told the official Blackburn website: “We are ten games in so it is a slight concern. We should be on 13 or 14 points at the moment and we haven’t managed to achieve that.

“We are one point less than at this stage last year, so I have to say to the players that we have to be careful now. We must get results on top of performances.”

Despite not being much better off at the same stage last season, Blackburn went on to comfortably avoid relegation by finishing tenth in the Premier League standings.

They will hope to start a similar climb up the table by taking victory in their next fixture, which is a winnable home game against Wigan.

Blackburn are 4/5 to beat Wigan and history serves them well as it is a home fixture they have won in four of the five Premier League seasons in which they have met.

However, Wigan have avoided defeat in three of four Premier League away games so far, which includes a win at Tottenham, and are 3/1 to beat Blackburn.

Blackburn have only managed four goals in their five home games so far, while Wigan have scored just four away from the DW Stadium. See the full Blackburn vs Wigan match betting odds market.
