Wycombe receive boost as they continue League Two challenge
Published:Despite missing the whole of pre-season thanks to a broken leg, Stuart Beavon believes his nine starts have allowed him to find full fitness and Wycombe fans can finally look forward to seeing the best of the striker.
Having taken just six months to recover from the break, Beavon has struggled in front of goal this season, netting just once in nine games as he looks to regain full fitness.
Beavon believes he’s back at peak fitness and he’s told the Wycombe faithful that they can expect goals, although he’s unlikely to challenge Adam Le Fondre for the golden boot – Le Fondre is 11/10 to be the league’s top goalscorer.
“You can start expecting goals from me now,” said the former Weymouth striker, “I’m feeling as fit as I ever have.”
“I want to score goals and I won’t be happy unless I am into double figures.”
Wycombe have made a decent start to League Two after being relegated from League One last season and their 4-3 victory over Rotherham on Saturday enhanced their title credentials – Wycombe are 7/1 to win League Two.
Lincoln City travel to Wycombe on Saturday and it’s a perfect opportunity for Beavon to start backing up his chat with goals.
Lincoln have let in 10 goals in six games on the road this year, winning one and losing five of those games and Wycombe, at 4/7 to win, look a decent price to keep up the pressure on leaders Chesterfield.
Despite Beavon not being at full fitness, Wycombe haven’t struggled for goals this season scoring 20 in their 13 games and manager Gary Waddock witnessed four different scorers in last Saturday’s win.
New recruit Scott Rendell has pitched in with five of those twenty league goals, and the striker is 40/1 to finish as League Two’s top scorer.
