Two players could help Tottenham win Premier League crown

| 20.10.2010

Harry Redknapp believes that Tottenham are now only two world class players away from having a team capable of mounting a serious assault on winning the Premier League.

Redknapp watched his team break into the top four last season to qualify for the Champions League and has strengthened further with the acquisition of Rafael van der Vaart and the free transfer signing of William Gallas.

However, the Spurs boss does not feel that these captures will be enough to help the team win their first title since 1961 this season, although he is optimistic that they can finish at the head of the Premier League in the coming years.

He said: “I think Tottenham may be one or two big signings away from being a team that could win the championship. One or two players in the right positions – and I’m talking about two top, top players in the right positions.

“This squad is just so full of talent anyway, so I really believe we’re not far away from that level.”

Tottenham are currently 50/1 to win the Premier League and have made a decent start to sit five points behind Chelsea after eight games.

They face a big game next at home to Everton, which is a fixture they have lost in three of the last four seasons.

Tottenham are 1/1 to beat Everton, with a repeat of last season’s 2-1 victory priced at 7/1.

However, Everton have shown signs of improvement of late by winning their last two Premier League games and keeping clean sheets in all of their last three.

David Moyes’ team are 11/4 to beat Tottenham and in Tim Cahill have a player who has scored in their last two games.

Tottenham did the home double over Everton last season, having also won at White Hart Lane in the fourth round of the Carling Cup. See the whole Tottenham vs Everton match betting odds market.
