Tisdale keeping promotion predictions to himself at Exeter

Paul Tisdale insists he is not going to make any predictions on where Exeter will finish in League One this season but believes they have the capabilities to challenge for promotion.

An unbeaten home record has been instrumental in Exeter’s fine start, which seems them sit just outside the play-off places on goal difference after 12 games.

Most recently they claimed the scalp of high-flying Carlisle to remain six points adrift of leaders Brighton, but Tisdale is keeping his feet on the ground and continuing to take things one game at a time.

He told the Western Morning News: “It is a very open league, and it is not as if we have to win every game to finish in the top six. There are probably 15 to 20 teams that will think they have got a chance of the play-offs and we are one of them.

“I never predict, we just keep going week by week trying to win the next game.”

Exeter have never played at a higher level than the third tier of English football before, but they are 66/1 to do so next season by winning League One.

Richard Logan scored both of their goals in the 2-1 triumph over Carlisle to move onto six League One goals for the season.

This helped him to become Exeter’s top scorer for the campaign just ahead of Ryan Harley, who has netted five times at present.

Logan is now 20/1 to finish the season as the League One top scorer, while Harley is available at 40/1 in the same betting odds market.

One area that Tisdale may be keen to improve is in defence as Exeter have conceded 19 times in their 12 league outings and kept just two clean sheets in these games.

Exeter travel to MK Dons next, who are also unbeaten at home and are 33/1 to win League One. See the full League One winners betting odds market.
