Reina believes administration would mean relegation battle

And goalkeeper Pepe Reina believes that a nine point penalty would mean Liverpool’s only ambitions this season would be to avoid relegation.
“It’s still too soon to talk about the takeover because there is still some chaos down there,” said Reina, “but I am worried, I am worried because of the situation of the club.
“I still believe that even with nine less points we will be able to stay in the Premier League but of course it will be no other target possible for us because with nine points less it’s going to be a tough, tough year.”
It seems hard to contemplate a Liverpool relegation battle, but if the nine point penalty came into affect on Friday night or Saturday morning, that would leave Liverpool on -3 points and facing a Merseyside derby with Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Liverpool are currently 12/1 to be relegated and if you compare those betting odds with the likes of Manchester City, 500/1, Tottenham, 150/1 and even Everton, 33/1, the market suggests that Liverpool’s pre-season ambitions of a top four finish are way out.
The derby on Sunday is crucial not just for Liverpool, but also for Roy Hodgson.
Despite playing at Everton, a loss to the blue half of Liverpool would see the Anfield faithful’s calls for Kenny Dalglish get louder, and Dalglish is 1/1 to be the next Liverpool manager, despite Hodgson seemingly safe for the time being.
Everton are 11/8 favourites to win on Sunday and should that happen, the next Liverpool manager betting market may feature prominently on your radar.
