Mary Byrne has the whole of Ireland behind her as she attempts to win the X Factor and the Irish singer has, arguably, the finest voice in the competition.

The 50-year-old, supermarket worker from Dublin has previous in talent shows, winning the 2008 Irish singing competition, Nollaig No.1 under the name Mary Lee.

Mary sealed her spot in the X Factor boot camp after a rousing rendition of Tom Jones ‘I (Who Have Nothing)’ that earned her a standing ovation from the watching galleries – Mary is 2/1 to perform with Tom Jones on the live show.

Despite forgetting the words to Coldplay’s ‘Fix You’ when singing in front of Louis Walsh at his house in Ireland, Louis chose Mary as one his top three acts and Mary’s performances in the first two weeks have seen her cut to 6/1 to win the X Factor.

Louis has previous with acts that are from Ireland, not to mention John and Edward who captured the attention of the nation last year.

John and Edward made it through to week seven and the MacDonald Brothers, Louis’ act from series three, made it into fourth place, which suggests Louis has previous form with Irish acts.

Mary joins Wagner and John Adeleye in the over 28’s category and she is the 1/9 favourite to go further in the competition than her group rivals.

Wagner has spoken of his admiration for Mary live in the second week of the television show and Mary could benefit from the relationship with Wagner when his fans transfer their votes to Mary once Wagner is eliminated.

You can also get 6/1 that the pair are seen kissing in during any live show in October in the X Factor specials betting market which offers plenty of opportunities to bet on Mary.
