Little Mexican is one of the most exciting prospects at Man Utd

According to Gary Neville, Javier Hernandez is the hottest prospect he’s seen at Manchester United for some time, and Neville believes Hernandez can establish himself as one of the Old Trafford greats.

The veteran defender has seen many players pass through Old Trafford and not all have proved capable of reaching the high standards set by Sir Alex Ferguson, but Neville is adamant that Hernandez will establish himself.

“He [Hernandez] works so hard and he has done so well since he came to the club, you get rewards for that,” said Neville.

“You obviously have to have talent when you come to this club, but his work-rate and his attitude is phenomenal.

“To be honest, he is one of the most exciting young prospects we’ve seen at the club for some time.”

Hernandez’s second goal at the weekend ended Man Utd’s run of four consecutive draws and the feeling around Old Trafford is that the win will kick start their title challenge.

The two goals took Hernandez’s tally to five for the season, three in three starts in the Premier League, and the 33/1 to be top goalscorer may be worth taking as Hernandez looks forward to a run in the team whilst Wayne Rooney is out.

The diminutive Mexican will sit out Man Utd’s clash with Wolves in the Carling Cup tonight, United are 2/7 to beat Wolves, as Ferguson looks to utilise him more in the Premier League in the absence of Rooney.

A consecutive run in the side will allow Hernandez to reproduce the form that saw him stand out for Mexico during the world cup.

And with Rooney out for another few games yet, Hernandez can rival Dimitar Berbatov as Man Utd’s main source of goals.

Wolves are 10/1 to win in 90 minutes on Tuesday. See the full Barclays Premier League betting odds here.
