Huddersfield expected to be involved in promotion picture

Huddersfield director Sean Jarvis has given his full backing to manager Lee Clark and labelled him as the right man to get the club promoted to the Championship this season.

The Terriers made the League One play-offs last season and seem on course to at least match this effort again as they sit fifth in the standings after 13 games of the present campaign.

Huddersfield have been slightly inconsistent in the league and this has caused their title-winning odds to fluctuate, with them currently priced at 6/1 to win League One.

Jarvis admits that expectations are high at the club but remains sure that any hopes can be fulfilled, particularly after a summer that saw experienced campaigners like goalkeeper Ian Bennett and striker Alan Lee arrive.

He told BBC Radio Leeds: “We are still gelling somewhat and Lee is still finding his best team. Lee has a very strong plan A and is still working on his plan B, but things are looking good.

“The expectation on Town this year is sky high and we all want to get promoted. There are more twists and turns to come this season for every club and I’m sure we’ll be up there.”

Huddersfield’s form has been much more solid at home and they will be widely expected to take the three points in their next League One fixture when Walsall travel to the Galpharm.

Clark’s team are 4/9 to beat Walsall, with the visitors currently floundering in the relegation places.

Huddersfield have also won all of the five meetings between the pair in League One this century, including an entertaining 4-3 success last season when scoring twice in second-half stoppage time.

Walsall are 6/1 to beat Huddersfield and collect just a second away victory in the league this season. See the full Huddersfield vs Walsall match betting odds market.
