Hoffman heads back home as PGA Tour heads to Las Vegas

The brilliantly named Justin Timberlake Shriners Hosptials for Children Open starts on Thursday and Ryder Cup rookie Rickie Fowler heads the betting in a strong field.

At 10/1, Fowler is an attractive proposition considering his from since he starred in the American Ryder Cup fightback, but the man to watch out for is Fowler’s neighbour Charley Hoffman.

Fowler currently resides in Las Vegas and has the knowledge of the TPC Summerlin course, but Hoffman studied at the University of Nevada on a golf scholarship, turning pro in the year he graduated, and at 16/1 is a good price to return to La Vegas and win.

Along with his Las Vegas knowledge, Hoffman has two top-ten finishes in his last three starts and four in his last eight, including a win at the Deutsche Bank Open.

Hoffman also finished sixth here last year so has the previous form to suggest the title is his for the taking.

Elsewhere in the field, Martin Laird is the defending champion and the Scotsman’s strong finish in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship suggests he can find the form to make a challenge again this year – he is 25/1.

John Senden is also worth considering and he is 33/1 to win in Las Vegas.

Senden hasn’t ventured to Las Vegas since 2005 where he finished 25T, but has three top-11 finishes in his last four starts and is currently fourth on the PGA Tour in greens in regulation.

Charles Howell III closed his McGladrey Classic challenge with a round of 62 and he is player that comes into form towards the end of the year.

That round led him to a 6T finish and Howell finished in the top 10 in this competition in 2008 – he is 40/1 to win.

Rickie Fowler’s Ryder Cup teammate Hunter Mahan is 14/1 to win in Las Vegas. See the full Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children Open betting odds market here.
