Hereford part company with Davey after dreadful League Two start
Published:Hereford feel that a new manager is the answer to putting right their poor start to their League Two campaign and so the decision has been made to sack Simon Davey.
Davey replaced Graham Turner in the summer and got off to a bright start when Hereford won away at Crewe on the opening day of the season, but they have not triumphed in their nine games since, losing on seven of these occasions.
This has left them three points adrift at the foot of the table and has resulted in Davey and his assistant Andy Fensome being given their marching orders.
A Hereford statement read: “The club decided to terminate their contracts after an unacceptable start to the season which has seen the club slump to the bottom of the table with just one win and four goals from ten games.”
The final nail in the coffin for Davey came with the 2-0 weekend defeat by Barnet, who sat one place above them in the league standings.
Hereford’s immediate concern may be to move out and away from the relegation zone, but a reasonable winning streak could lead to them taking giant strides up the table.
They are currently 150/1 to win League Two and have 17 points to make up on current leaders Port Vale.
