Gilardino will spearhead Fiorentina attack against Sampdoria

The two Serie A clubs that have made the most disappointing starts to the season meet in Genova this Sunday.

Fiorentina have slipped from fourth place and Champions League qualification, to teetering over the drop zone in just over a season.

Their manager Sinisa Mihajlovic has said this week he has no intention of resigning, but with one win from their first six games it’s no wonder questions are being asked.

Mihajlovic only took over in the summer after Cesare Prandelli left for the Italian national team, but time is fast running out already for the Viola.

One team who will sympathise are Sampdoria who too lost their manager when Luigi Del Neri left for Juventus, and they have struggled for form this year with just one win from six.

Sampdoria have four draws to the Viola’s two and that’s currently all that separates them until they meet on Sunday.

Sampdoria are slight favourites at 11/10, with Fiorentina priced at 5/2 to win

.

A key factor will be the performance of both team’s main strikers, Alberto Gilardino has two for the season so far, Antonio Cassano has three.

Gilardino is 11/2 to score the first goal, Cassano is 5/1.

Also this weekend, Inter will try and ressurect their title challenge against Cagliari.

Rafa Benitez has seen his side lose and draw their last two league meetings and if they make it three winless games, Benitez will begin to feel the weight of expectations that five titles in a row bring to a club.

Second at present, the Nerazzurri will feel confident of beating Cagliari though, who’ve not won in four matches and they are made 10/11 to do so.

Cagliari must keep Serie A top scorer Samuel Eto’o quiet if they’re to stand any chance, but with five goals already this year, he’s favourite to score first at 4/1.

Inter are 5/4 to score 2-3 goals against Cagliari, follow the full Serie A market here.
