Davies double fires Chesterfield to League Two summit

Chesterfield climbed to the top of the League Two table after Craig Davies inspired them to a 2-1 win over fellow promotion hopefuls Wycombe.

The Wales international headed the Spireites into a first-half lead and, after Ben Strevens had levelled for Wycombe, Davies struck the winner on 73 minutes.

Chesterfield are priced at 9/2 to win the League Two title, and this win will be as big a boost for their promotion hopes as it will be a dent to Wycombe’s.

Of the other promotion chasers, third-placed Rotherham snatched a last-ditch 3-2 win at Accrington, with Ryan Creswell scoring the clincher in added time.

Millers’ striker Adam Le Fondre was also on target, and if he can add to his 11 league goals, Rotherham look like a tempting bet at 11/2 to be crowned League Two champions.

Port Vale were held 0-0 by Gillingham but they remain in contention in second place. They are 4/1 to win the League Two title. See the full League Two Betting Odds market.
