Chesterfield face trip to Stevenage to stay at League Two summit

Published:

Chesterfield assumed control of League Two last weekend after previous leaders Port Vale drew for the third time in a row, but they will have a job on their hands to stay there this weekend.

Though they’ve been on a superb run, unbeaten in their last five with four wins from these games, Chesterfield may well have to settle for a point at Stevenage.

The Boro have lost just once at home all season and are priced at 7/5 to send the league leaders away with nothing.

Chesterfield have, however, been in the goals, with Craig Davies grabbing nine and Danny Whittaker hitting seven so far this year.

The Spirites are 9/5 to take the three points and 8/1 to win 2-1, the same scoreline they’ve claimed in three of their last four wins.

Port Vale will want to shake off their run of draws and turn over seventh-placed Crewe.

With only one home defeat all season, the Valiants will hope to recapture their early form which saw them win six matches in a row and return to the summit of League Two as quickly as possible.

They’ve lost one and drawn three since then and will want to kick on, but they may find Crewe very difficult to get past.

The Railwaymen are unbeaten in 11 games, with three wins from their last four and have nudged into the play-offs.

It’s a tough one to call, but Port Vale are made favourites at 1/1, while Crewe are a good value 11/4 to make it four wins in five.

Hoping to capitalise on these difficult encounters will be Bury, who are presently third on goal difference.

They have another testing game against Aldershot, who have been inconsistent this season.

Though they lost last week, they’d won their previous two and sit just outside the play-offs.

Aldershot will need to keep Ryan Lowe quiet though, he has ten so far this season and four in his last five.

Lowe is 5/1 to open the scoring and his team are 9/5 to win, with their opponents 7/5.

Crewe are 14/1 to win 2-0 at Port Vale, follow the full League Two odds market here.
