Cardiff and Scunthorpe seek home comfort in early kick offs

Published:

Cardiff need to preserve their unbeaten home record this weekend to keep the pressure on QPR.

The Welsh side are second in Championship table, but are six points behind QPR and just a point ahead of Norwich who face each other this weekend.

Fortunately for Cardiff, who’ve failed to win in three of their last five league games, they come up against the league’s bottom club in the first of two Championship early kick offs.

Bristol City are 11/2 to win at the Cardiff City stadium and are in awful form, with four defeats from their last five games.

Cardiff will have Michael Chopra, Jason Koumas and a recovered Craig Bellamy to call on against the Robins, and are marked at an overwhelming 8/15 to win.

Bellamy and Chopra are tied on 3/1 to score the first goal and, going by the form book, it could be the first of three or four that fly past David James in the Bristol City goal.

Scunthorpe vs Doncaster

The second of the day’s midday starts is a Yorkshire derby between Scunthorpe and Doncaster.

The Irons achieved Championship survival last year based on their home form, where they picked up two thirds of their 52 points but they’ve slipped a bit this year though and have no win in their four games.

Doncaster were the surprise package in the Championship last season, tipped to struggle, they ended the season in 13th and were even whispered about as play off contenders for this year.

They’ve been much the same though and sit in 13th once again.

Like the Irons, Doncaster have no wins in their last four games and this is a hard one to call.

A draw would seem reasonable at 23/10, but Scunthorpe will want a home win at 8/5 and, at 13/8, Doncaster aren’t unfancied to win.

Much will depend on how Doncaster’s Billy Sharp performs when he returns to the club he scored 53 goals for in two brilliant seasons.

Billy Sharp is 6/1 to score the first goal. See the full Scunthorpe vs Doncaster match betting odds market here.
