Bury manager rewarded with new contract after strong start
Published:Bury moved up to third in the League Two table thanks to a win over Stockport on Saturday, and the Shakers have been cut from 33/1 to 7/1 to win League Two.
And because of their strong start, manager Alan Knill has signed a new deal keeping him at the club until the end of next season.
At the start of the season Bury were 16/1 to mount a title challenge, considering Alan Knill had, in his first two seasons, led Bury to a play-off semi-final, before narrowly missing out on the play-offs last season, it seemed a decent price.
However, Bury drifted out to 33/1 in September after winning just twice in their opening seven games, but have since gone unbeaten in seven and are now 7/1 to win League Two.
Under the guidance of Knill, Bury have won seven of their 13 games this season scoring 25 goals in the process, and that’s mainly in part to Ryan Lowe who has ten of those goals and is 7/1 to finish as the league’s top scorer.
An away tie at Aldershot is next up for Bury, and if they negotiate a point in the tricky tie, Knill will be targeting six points from the following two home games against Bradford and Stockport.
Chesterfield currently lead the way in League Two by three points to Port Vale and Bury, but seven points from those three games would be a good return for Bury and would certainly see their title odds shorten even further.
Chesterfield continue to be unbeaten in their new stadium and at this early stage of the season, they look like the team to beat and the Spireites can be backed at 4/1 to win League Two.
