Bosingwa targets more games to aid Chelsea’s title quest

Jose Bosingwa says that he just wants to play as much football as possible in the coming weeks to boost his chances of returning to full fitness.

Bosingwa has only recently returned to training following a year out with a knee injury and after coming on as a substitute against Aston Villa, made a first start in the home win over Wolves.

Chelsea travel to Blackburn next in the Premier League and Bosingwa is hoping to get the nod from manager Carlo Ancelotti again to continue his recovery.

The Portuguese defender told Chelsea TV: “After the game against Aston Villa, I felt more confidence with my knee. I feel good and happy.

“I need games; I need more competitions. I don’t know how many but I need games.”

Bosingwa’s recovery is good news for Chelsea as regular right-back Branislav Ivanovic has been forced to shuffle into the heart of the defence in recent weeks to cover for the injured Alex.

This has meant that Paulo Ferreira has been picked at right back, but Bosingwa offers far more as an attacking threat to compliment Ashley Cole down the other flank.

Meanwhile, Bosingwa may also be the more solid choice defensively, thanks to him being better in the air and more capable in physical confrontations.

Chelsea are 1/2 to beat Blackburn and this is a fixture that they have won in the Premier League calendar in three of the last four seasons.

However, both games at Ewood Park finished level last season, as a 3-3 draw in the Carling Cup was followed by a 1-1 stalemate in the league.

Bosingwa has played against Blackburn twice for Chelsea, with both games in the 2008/09 season ending in a 2-0 win.

Chelsea are 6/1 to beat Blackburn 2-0 again this season. See the full Blackburn vs Chelsea match betting odds market.
