Bet on Chelsea vs Arsenal – Drogba likely to be the difference

Arsenal may feel that stopping Didier Drogba finding the target could help them avoid suffering a fifth successive defeat against Chelsea.

Match Odds

Both teams head into the London derby on the back of suffering their first Premier League defeats of the season in their last outings.

Chelsea slumped to a 1-0 defeat at another of the Premier League title favourites Manchester City, but can take confidence from the fact that they have beaten Arsenal in their last four meetings.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men are 8/11 to beat Arsenal and extend their run to just two defeats in 18 matches against the Gunners.

Meanwhile, they have won 22 of their last 24 games at Stamford Bridge and have scored on all of these occasions.

Arsenal are 4/1 to beat Chelsea and give manager Arsene Wenger a perfect anniversary present having recently celebrated 14 years in charge of the club.

First Goalscorer

Drogba is the obvious candidate to open the scoring, having struck 12 goals in his last ten appearances against Arsenal.

The Ivorian is 7/2 to be the first goalscorer, which would lengthen Chelsea’s run to 13 successive league games at Stamford Bridge in which they have opened the scoring.

Drogba also scored four of Chelsea’s five goals in their two Premier League victories over Arsenal last season.

Former Arsenal striker Nicolas Anelka has already scored seven goals this season and is another candidate for the first goal.

He is 6/1 to strike first and ensure that Wenger’s team will have gone 11 games without a clean sheet on their travels.

Andrei Arshavin has netted three times in his last five games for Arsenal and is 9/1 to break the deadlock.

Arsenal are likely to opt for Lukasz Fabianski in goal as Manuel Almunia is still out with an elbow injury. See the full Chelsea vs Arsenal match betting odds market.
