Charlton vs Brighton – London looms for league leaders

Published:

Not too much was expected from Gus Poyet’s Brighton side at the start of the season.

Though they had a highly rated manager in Poyet, the Seagulls had only finished 13th last season and were tipped to do much the same this time around.

They’ve soared above expectations and can now rightly be judged as favourites for their trip to the Valley to face Charlton.

Three points clear at the top of League One, they’ve lost just once all season and are rated at 9/5 to deliver another victory against the Addicks.

Charlton were beaten play off semi finalists last season after being relegated from the Championship the year before and still seem to be playing with a hangover from their play-off defeat.

One win in five leaves them in 10th in League One and priced 7/5 to score what would have been classed at the season’s outset as a routine home win.

They could have leading scorer Scott Wagstaff back though as the winger is thought to be winning his battle to recover from a foot injury in time for Saturday.

Peterborough vs Swindon

Posh seem to have recovered quickly from their demotion to League One and are already third in the table.

The reason they’ve been able to do this is principally down to their goal scoring prowess.

Aaron Mclean and Craig Mackail-Smith are both the club and league’s joint top goal scorers with six goals each, and they’re being ably assisted by George Boyd who’s on three for the season.

They lost last time out though, 2-0 to struggling Hartlepool, and manager Gary Johnson was critical of his players’ performance.

He will have spent the week demanding they turn in a good performance against Swindon and his team are 5/6 to win.

Swindon turned over Bristol Rovers on Monday night, but will not fancy the trip to London Road and are only 10/3 to win.

George Boyd is 6/1 to score the first goal for Peterborough, follow the full NPower League One market here.
