Austria hosts second round of Generali Ladiez Linz tournament

Daniela Hantuchova and Ana Ivanovic both feature in Austria today and the two favourites for the Generali Ladiez Linz tournament are strong favourites to progress.

Ivanovic has enjoyed somewhat of a resurrection to her tennis career as of late and her best form has come on the hard courts.

The Serb faces Barbora Zahlavova Strycova at 2.15pm and is the very strong 1/12 favourite to win.

Zahlavova Strycova is ranked 29 places below Ivanovic and is the 6/1 favourite to win, the Czech has made it into the second round for the first time in five tournaments.

A loss for Ivanovic would be a real blow to her confidence as the tennis season draws to an end, but Ivanovic won’t be contemplating defeat and is 1/4 to win the match in straight sets.

Daniela Hantuchova is the number one seed for the tournament after Serena Williams withdrew, and Hantuchova faces a similarly easy task to that of Ivanovic when she takes on Carla Suarez Navarro at 5.30pm.

Hantuchova is 3/10 in the WTA betting market to beat the Spaniard, and previous form suggests that she will do it in straight sets – Hantuchova is 5/6 to win 2-0.

Suarez Navarro is more suited to clay courts and this is her first appearance on the hard courts since the US Open – she is 12/5 to beat Hantuchova.

One match that does offer some value in the WTA betting market is Patty Schnyder’s clash with Klara Zakopalova.

The two have met on three occasions with Schnyder winning them all and the 8/15 offered for Schnyder to win may seem a little long.

However Zakopalova is ranked nine places higher than Schnyder and is 11/8 to win.

Schnyder should still progress but may need three sets to do it, the Swiss is 3/1 to beat Zakopalova 2-1. See the full Generali Ladiez Linz betting odds market here.
