Watford’s promotion chances boosted as Graham signs new deal

Danny Graham’s fast start to the current Championship season has earned him a new two-year contract at Watford.

Graham has been in sensational form with six goals in nine Championship games to lead Watford to the dizzy heights of fourth in the table, while he has struck eight times in all competitions.

Watford are still 33/1 to win the Championship, with Graham 12/1 to build on his promising start to finish as the division’s top scorer at the end of the campaign.

His two-year deal also has the possibility of a further 12 months and follows in the footsteps of strike partner Marvin Sordell, who recently agreed terms on a new three-year contract.

The developments will be especially pleasing for Watford boss Malky Mackay as Graham had been generating interest among the bigger fish in the Championship to help their own promotion aspirations.

Graham’s constant work-rate is one of his chief attributes and this will be on show as he looks to find the target again in Watford’s next Championship outing away at Sheffield United.

He is 11/2 to be the game’s first goalscorer, with Watford 21/10 to claim the three points at Bramell Lane for the first time in five meetings.

Watford have been especially impressive away from home with three wins and a draw from their four games on the road, while Sheffield United have been inconsistent at home with two victories and two defeats.

Gary Speed’s team are 5/4 to beat Watford, despite only scoring twice in their four games at home.
