Villarreal good at keeping home clean sheets against Espanyol

Villarreal’s impressive home record should allow them to immediately bounce back from their disappointing opening-day La Liga defeat with a win against Espanyol.

A 1-0 defeat to newly-promoted Real Sociedad may have slighted dented Villarreal’s confidence, but a return to their fortress of El Madrigal, where they have won 13 of their last 16 league games, should get their season back on track.

They are 4/5 to beat Espanyol and have lost only once in the last 12 meetings between the two.

Espanyol have failed to score in their last five league showdowns with Villarreal, including in both fixtures last season which ended 0-0.

Another goalless draw in front of the television cameras is 8/1, with 5/2 on offer that the game finishes all-square.

Guiseppe Rossi may be relying on the passing ability of Villarreal teammate Bruno to score in the game and he is 5/1 to break the deadlock.

The other televised La Liga game pits Sevilla against Deportivo, with the visitors’ lack of goals on their travels a cause for particular concern.

They have failed to win an away game in the whole of 2010 and have scored just three goals in these nine fixtures.

Deportivo are 13/2 to end this sequence at Sevilla, but may struggle to contain the scoring abilities of their opposition.

Seville have scored 23 goals in their last seven league games, including when sticking four past Levante on the opening day of the season.

They are 4/9 to make it six points out of six this season, with Luis Fabiano the 3/1 favourite to score the game’s opening goal.

A repeat of Sevilla’s 4-1 win over Levante is 18/1. See the whole Sevilla vs Deportivo match betting market.
