Rodgers eager to increase his striking options at Swansea

Brendan Rodgers insists that he is still on the lookout for a new striker at Swansea despite being of the opinion that he needs to trim his squad.

Stephen Dobbie and Shefki Kuqi are currently the only fit strikers that Rodgers can call on as Craig Beattie and Gorka Pintado are on the treatment table.

However, in order to avoid putting a big financial strain on the Championship outfit he knows that he may need to get some players off the wage bill soon.

Rodgers told BBC Sport Wales that he is looking to have about 22 players in his squad but is working with around 30 at present.

He added: “If the right striker becomes available then I’m sure the club will look to do that.

“At the minute we only have two fit strikers and we understand the need to have another one. I know the club will do everything possible to make it happen.”

Swansea’s next game takes them to Leeds where they will be aiming to pick up their first away points of the season.

They are 23/10 to return to Wales with all three, while the draw is quoted at the same price.

Swansea have won both of their home games and if they can reproduce this form on their travels then they will be contenders to gain promotion to the Premier League.

They are 25/1 to win the Championship this season, with Dobbie 66/1 to end the campaign as the top scorer in the division.

Swansea have lost on their last two trips to Elland Road and have failed to score on either occasion. Leeds are 6/5 to win this season. See the entire Leeds vs Swansea match betting market.
