Reading feeling positive ahead of Crystal Palace showdown

Jobi McAnuff insists that Reading will be full of confidence when looking to gain their first home victory of the season when they take on one of his former clubs, Crystal Palace, in their next Championship outing.

McAnuff was employed as a makeshift right-back as Reading gained a welcome boost ahead of the international break by claiming a 2-1 victory over Leicester to move onto five points for the season.

And he is now hoping that Reading can use this victory as a springboard to another positive result against Crystal Palace.

He told the official Reading website: “It was massive for us to win the Leicester game. It lets you enjoy the international break rather than go into it in a negative frame of mind.

“Everyone’s looking forward to our next game and hopefully we can kick on.”

Reading are 4/5 to pick up the win over Crystal Palace, who themselves are still searching for their first point away from Selhurst Park.

They are 7/2 to head back home with all three, while it is 5/2 that the game will end in a draw.

The last two fixtures between the two at the Madejski Stadium have both ended 4-2, with Palace landing the spoils last year.

Furthermore, 37 goals have been scored in the last eight meetings at the home of Reading, with the home side 50/1 to triumph 4-2 this season.

Despite Reading’s relatively modest start to the season they remain 16/1 to win the Championship, with Crystal Palace unfancied at 150/1. See the whole Championship winners market.
