Pastore has dream to move to Barcelona to star in La Liga

Javier Pastore has admitted that he would love to one day follow the long line of Argentineans that have forged a successful career in La Liga by playing for Barcelona.

Pastore is currently proving a success in Serie A at Palermo after moving from his homeland to Italy last year and was called up by Diego Maradona to be a part of the Argentina squad at this summer’s World Cup.

Although many Argentineans have often represented Real Madrid in the past, Pastore has revealed that he would rather follow in the footsteps of the likes of Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi and move to Barcelona instead.

He said: “For an Argentine to play in the La Liga is normal, especially for the language. Wearing the jersey of Barcelona with Lionel Messi is a dream, but it remains such.”

However, he insists that his current thoughts all revolve around Palermo and helping them to achieve another strong finish in Serie A this season , where they are 150/1 to win the title.

They finished in fifth during the last campaign and were only two points adrift of Sampdoria who qualified for the final Champions League place.

Pastore has played 90 minutes in both of Palermo’s two opening Serie A games, although they could only follow up on a 0-0 draw at home to Cagliari with a 3-2 defeat at Brescia.

Palermo also face a tough task if they are to end their winless streak in their next fixture as they host reigning Serie A champions Inter Milan.

Inter are 8/11 to win their sixth Serie A title in succession this season. See the complete Serie A winners market.
