Newcastle vs Stoke – Visitors in search of first away point

Published:

Stoke have not travelled to Newcastle much in recent seasons, but will have to dent one of the best home records in English football if they are to pick up their first Premier League away point of the campaign.

Match Odds

Chris Hughton has only lost one game at St James’ Park since taking over in the Newcastle hotseat and that came in the recent defeat against Blackpool.

This was their first home loss since May last year and they are 10/11 to beat Stoke and build on their strong start which has seen them occupy sixth in the Premier League table.

Meanwhile, Newcastle will also have Tim Krul in goal to replace the injured Steve Harper and he has kept clean sheets in all of his previous league appearances for the club.

On the flip side, Stoke have not kept out the opposition in their last six league games and have lost both of their away outings in the Premier League this season.

They are 3/1 to beat Newcastle, while three of the last four clashes between the pair have ended all square and it is 12/5 that another draw is played out.

To Score At Any Time

Andy Carroll scored for Newcastle the last time that they faced Stoke in the Premier League and is 11/10 to find the target in the 90 minutes again to net a fifth league goal of the campaign.

Shola Ameobi boosted his chances of starting against Stoke with a double in the surprise Carling Cup win over Chelsea and is 7/4 to add his name to the scoresheet.

Kenwyne Jones has recently begun to find his feet after his big-money move from Sunderland and has scored in all of Stoke’s last three games.

He is 2/1 to score at any time and 6/1 to break the deadlock.

Stoke last won at St James’ Park in 1976. See the complete Newcastle vs Stoke match betting market.
