Valencia vs Man Utd – Scholes misses out on flight to Spain

Published:

Paul Scholes will join Wayne Rooney in Manchester as Manchester United prepare for a Champions League tie with Valencia.

Scholes has been Man Utd’s most influential player so far this season, and Ferguson’s decision not to take him to Spain may backfire as Manchester United look to qualify from a Group they are 8/15 to top.

The midfield maestro joins Rooney and Ryan Giggs on the sidelines but Michael Carrick may be in line for a start after training with the first team following an Achilles injury.

Valencia are in strong form as they top La Liga after six games, winning five of those, and are 17/10 to win at home.

However Valencia are winless in five home Champions League ties and their previous two ties with Man Utd at the Mestalla have ended goalless – it’s 7/1 for a 0-0 draw on Wednesday night.

The return of Rio Ferdinand will be a boost to the leaky Man Utd defence but history is against them – they have only won in Spain once in 18 European matches.

Rangers vs Bursaspor

A point at Old Trafford has put Rangers in a strong position after round one and a win at home to Bursaspor would provide them with a great chance to qualify.

The Scottish side have won just one of nine Champions League home ties and have conceded 13 goals during that time but are still 10/11 to win on Wednesday night.

Bursaspor are 3/1 to win at Ibrox but Rangers have 14 goals in their previous three Scottish Premier League games and it’s 6/5 for there to be over 2.5 goals in the match.

Rangers are 14/1 to top Group C. See the full Champions League football betting odds market here.
