Lee hoping cup display will lead to regular Brentford starts
Richard Lee is hoping that his superstar performance in Brentford’s Carling Cup win over Everton will lead to him being picked in goal for their next League One game away at Leyton Orient.
Lee has seen his chances limited since arriving at Brentford, but took advantage of regular goalkeeper Ben Hamer being ineligible in the Carling Cup by saving Jermaine Beckford’s penalty in the shoot-out and then watching Phil Jagielka hit the post.
He told the official Brentford website: “I feel great. It’s been a difficult start for me here in many ways but I have been really happy with my last few games.
“It was a night where you work hard and you take the rewards. Hopefully I can stay in the limelight and have a few more days like that.”
However, Hamer has been chosen between the sticks for Brentford’s last three League One games, in which they have failed to concede a goal.
Another clean sheet will significantly boost their chances of taking away three points from Leyton Orient, where they are 17/10 to win in the League One betting odds.
Brentford have failed to win in their last three away games with Orient, including last season in League One where they slumped to a 2-1 defeat.
Orient are currently bottom of the table but are 6/4 to beat Brentford and begin to make some inroads up the league.
They have won two of their last three home matches with Brentford 2-1 and a repeat is 8/1.
