Knee injury puts Surman on sidelines for two months at Norwich
Published:Norwich have made a bright start to their Championship season but have bit hit with the bad news that Andrew Surman could be out of action for around two months.
Surman signed for the Canaries from Wolves in the summer, but was forced to miss their 2-1 weekend win over Barnsley after picking up an injury in training.
It has now been discovered that the 24-year-old’s knee complaint is fairly serious and this will mean that he will be unable to help Norwich build on their encouraging start to the season.
Norwich currently sit just outside the play-off places on goal difference, three points behind leaders QPR, and are 16/1 to win the Championship this season.
Manager Paul Lambert told BBC Radio Norfolk: “Andrew’s going to be out for a little bit, he’s hurt his knee and is going to be out for at least a couple of months.
“It’s a blow, but that’s why you have a squad. I have a lot of faith in the lads that will come in and do a job.”
Simon Lappin replaced Surman in the starting line-up against Barnsley and may keep his place for the next fixture away at Doncaster.
The game finished 1-1 the last time the pair met at the Keepmoat Stadium in January last year, with Norwich 11/5 to return south with the three points this time.
A repeat of the 1-1 draw is priced at 11/2, with strikers Grant Holt and Chris Martin both 6/1 to open the scoring against Doncaster.
