John Terry and Frank Lampard nearing return for Chelsea

Published:

Despite initial thoughts suggesting Frank Lampard would be out for up to six weeks, the surgery on his groin went ahead without incident and Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti will assess Lampard ahead of Saturday’s game with West Ham.

Lampard will return to training this week and will be pleased about his fast recovery as his extraordinary resistance to injury continues, Lampard averages a remarkable 36 games a season for the Blues.

He won’t want to miss a return to Upton Park where he was a fans favourite for six seasons before his switch to Chelsea.

But Hammers fans won’t be pleased as they are yet to beat Chelsea when Frank Lampard has started for the Blues – West Ham are 8/1 to take home the three points.

John Terry has been suffering from a hamstring injury since before the World Cup and has taken advantage of the international break to rest.

The respite seems to have paid off with Terry already back in training for Chelsea and Ancelotti is confident he will start on Satuday.

West Ham will play host to Chelsea knowing that their London neighbours are in tremendous scoring form and Lampard will be hoping to add to his three goal tally against his former club.

Stoke City managed to contain the Chelsea front three to just the one goal in their defeat before the international break and West Ham will be hoping they can do the same.

Chelsea are 1/3 to win on Saturday and extend their lead at the top of the table and with recent history on Chelsea’s side, it’s difficult to see anything other than a Blues win.

Chelsea are 6/5 to win the Premier League. See the full Barclays Premier League betting market here.
