Giovinco fails to understand why he was frozen out at Juventus

Sebastian Giovinco believes Juventus’ loss will be Parma’s gain as he still has been given no explanation as to why he was never given a suitable run in the team at the Old Lady.

Giovinco moved to Parma on loan at the start of the season, with the club having the option of making the deal permanent at the end of the campaign.

And this is something that is sure to happen as the 23-year-old has made a blistering start to life under Pasquale Marino, orchestrating much of the play and scoring in a losing effort at Catania.

He will get the chance to display his skills further when Parma travel to Lecce in Serie A next and Parma are 2/1 to beat Lecce and secure their first away win of the campaign.

Despite being admired now, Giovinco is still slightly perplexed as to why he was suddenly dropped from the first team at Juventus when performing well.

Giovinco told Domenica Sportiva: “Last year I played the first six games with Cira Ferrara and good results arrived.

“But after a certain point I didn’t get on the pitch anymore. I don’t know why.”

One of the reasons for the move could be that Juventus opted for a change in formation, which involved the transition of playing with natural wingers and two strikers instead of someone playing just off the frontman.

This could also be the reason why new Juventus manager Luigi Del Nero decided to sell Diego over the summer to Wolfsburg as he was more naturally suited to a similar role as Giovinco, which is hard to integrate into a typical 442 formation.

Parma did the double over Lecce last season and have triumphed in five of the last six meetings between the two.

Hernan Crespo and Alberto Paloschi are among the other players that may help Parma defy odds of 200/1 to win Serie A this season. See the whole Serie A winners market.
