Gillingham tame Shrews to clinch first win of the season

Gillingham recorded their first win of the season – and knocked Shrewsbury off the top of League Two in doing so – with a 2-0 victory at the Priestfield Stadium.

Chris Palmer scored both goals – taking his tally for the term to four – as the Gills moved up to 17th in the table.

Having seemingly turned a corner after their early season wobble, Gillingham now seem a more attractive bet at 14/1 to win the League Two title.

Shrewsbury, meanwhile, drop to second place on goal difference following their defeat.

The Shrews are still excellently placed to mount a challenge title, and their strong start to the season sees them priced at 8/1 to go up as champions.

Who do you think will be challenging at the League Two summit come the season’s end? Torquay are top and they are the 5/1 favourites to win the title. See the full League Two Betting Odds market.
