Germany, Italy and Holland remain in control of Euro 2012 destiny
Published:Germany, Italy and Holland all look well placed to qualify for Euro 2012 after winning their second successive games in their respective groups.
Miroslav Klose scored Germany’s only goal as they beat Belgium 1-0 in their opening game and he helped himself to another brace as they followed up with a 6-1 thrashing of Azerbaijan.
Heiko Westermann, Lukas Podolski and Holger Badstuber also found the target, while the scoring was completed by an own goal from Rashad Sadygov.
Germany are 9/2 to win Euro 2012, but in Klose they do not have the top scorer so far in qualifying as this tag belongs to Holland’s Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
Schalke’s new striker grabbed both goals as Holland beat Finland 2-1 in their first home game since losing the World Cup final to Spain earlier this summer.
Huntelaar earlier struck a hat-trick as Holland won 5-0 in San Marino and they are 7/1 to emerge victorious from Euro 2012.
Meanwhile, Italy made hard work of beating Estonia 2-1 away in their Group C opener, but were much more commanding in beating the Faroe Islands 5-0.
They are 10/1 to win Euro 2012, while France are 16/1 after recovering from their surprise home defeat to Belarus with a victory in Bosnia.
One of the Euro 2012 favourites who may be struggling to qualify are Portugal, as they have collected just one point from their opening two games.
After an entertaining 4-4 draw at home to Cyprus they fell to a 1-0 reverse away at current Group H table-toppers Norway.
