Fulham remain tough to beat despite more open gameplan

Zoltan Gera is pleased with the brand of football being played at Fulham this season under the guidance of Mark Hughes.

Keeping clean sheets and remaining tight as a unit was often the first priority when Roy Hodgson was in charge last season, but this had its benefits as Fulham reached the final of the Europa League.

However, despite playing in a more attacking way so far this campaign, Fulham have remained equally challenging to defeat as they and Manchester United are the only sides still unbeaten in the Premier League.

This form has resulted in Fulham sitting seventh in the standings and has offered them an outside hope of finishing in the top four this season, for which they are 40/1.

Gera told the official Fulham website: “I think we play a bit more open football than last year, there are a lot of one against one situations during games and the players can do the right things in these situations. It’s good to play in a team like that.

“Players have more freedom to go forward and do what they can for the team. We can use our ability and I think it’s good for the team.”

West Ham are the next team looking to inflict a first Premier League defeat on Fulham and are 5/4 to take the three points at Upton Park.

Fulham are 9/4 to win at West Ham, while they have shared the points in five of their opening six league games and another draw is priced at 9/4.

Hughes’ team have failed to win in their last five visits to Upton Park. See the complete West Ham vs Fulham match betting odds market.
